Common Cents Penny Harvest Grant from the pupils of Urban Assembly School for the Environment (UE) Thu Jun 15, 2006
While there are no photos available, AAPCI would like to thank Principal: Ms. Kortney Cole, Teacher Coordinator: Ms. Prilley Blank and the Penny Leaders of the Urban Assembly School for the Environment (UE) for presenting a grant check to the African American Planning Commission on behalf of the children residing at Serenity House.

Common Cents Penny Harvest Grant from the pupils of P.S. 23: Carter G. Woodson School Thu Mar 9, 2006
Pupils of Public School 23 in Brooklyn discuss homelessness and domestic violence with AAPCI Executive Director, Matthew Okebiyi. The P.S. 23 Philanthropists Roundtable presented Mr. Okebiyi with a grant check made possible by their participation in the Common Cents Penny Harvest Program. Schools like P.S. 23 and the Urban Assembly School for the Environment (UE) form Philanthropy Roundtables with the mission of improving their community using their Penny Harvest funds. P.S. 23 Principal: Ms. Meade and Roundtable Coordinator: Mr. Eric Havlik were on-hand to make the project a tremendous learning experience for these future community-leaders and philanthropists. On behalf of the children residing at Serenity House, we thank the participants of the P.S. 23 Philanthropy Roundtable. {View Gallery}

On Saturday, April 25th, 2005, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., celebrated its 55th Annual Eastern Regional Teen Conference at the Capital Hilton Hotel in East Brunswick, New Jersey... AAPCI Board Member, Sherry Granger and Executive Director, Matthew Okebiyi, were on-hand to receive a grant award on behalf of the African American Planning Commission, teen survivors of domestic violence, and the residents of Serenity House. {View Gallery}

Construction completion of Serenity House Family Residence Dec 14, 2004
On December 1st, 2004, AAPCI celebrated construction completion of Serenity House: a 40 unit transitional (Tier II) residence for homeless survivors of domestic violence with children. Serenity House is one of the largest transitional domestic violence shelters in Brooklyn, New York. {View Gallery}
