Legion of Good Will (Legiao da Boa Vontade)

Legion of Good-Will, LGW , is an educational institution, affiliated to UN. One of its goals is to light the fire of human and social solidarity inside the hearts, thus helping to build a world in which people can live in peace. LGW was founded in 1950 by the journalist, broadcaster, writer and poet Alziro Zarur, and today it is leaded by Jos? de Paiva Netto, who is journalist, broadcaster, writer, poet and composer. LGW is an organization that does not aim monetary profits, but is ecumenical, and is devoted to work in conformity with the lemma: Education and Culture, Health and Work with Spirituality. With 552 sections of service in Brazil and branch offices in the USA, Portugal, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, it also mantains correspondents all over the world. It delegates support the poor families in the Communitary Centers, which provide medical, educational and emergency assistance, besides courses that can both teach to read and write and form professionals. It mantains the Charity Patrol, which supports those who live in the streets, trying to lead them to a better life. Legion of Good-Will involves the community in its campaigns that ennoble the life: in behalf of ecology, against drugs, abortion, death penalty, racism, violence in sports and traffic and so on. These campaigns are constantly promoted in order to make people ?mainly children and teenagers ? aware of the importance of living with health and solidarity.
