Established in January 1997, its aims are to lower illiteracy rates in Brazil and promote the public provision of Adult and Youth Education. Our objective is to help children succeed in their educational pursuits and to provide opportunities for them to learn skills which will help them to succeed in the future. Only 32% of children in Brazil study past the fourth grade and this is mostly because they only study 4 hours per day. The rest of the day they are usually on the streets learning to become street children. Now they will have opportunity to fill these hours with positive educational experiences preparing them to be the leaders of tomorrow. We are presently working with 150 children every day. We also have outreaches to minister to the families and to other youth and children in the area.
