At the turn of the new millennium, the leaders of 191 nations agreed that together they have the resources and the political will to eradicate the extreme poverty, hunger and disease that kills millions of people each year in the poorest parts of the world. The Earth Institute?s audio slideshows examine the complex dimensions of extreme poverty, and explain why the eight Millennium Development Goals and their 18 targeted objectives are a way for the international community to achieve a better world in our lifetime.
